Keep Up-To-Date on Weather Delays
If you are traveling during the spring rain season, the summer hurricane season or the winter snowstorm season, itÂ’s a good idea to know where and how you can get the latest about the weather and how it is affecting airline flights and airport traffic.
Before starting your journey or getting into your car to pick up an arriving traveler at your local airport, you need to know the status of the flight and the status of the inbound airport
The easiest and most accurate way to get this information is to call your travel agent or an agent for the airline in question. Your travel agent can find out both flight and airport status. The airline agent can tell you the flight status and may offer airport status information.
Another source for airport information is the FAA home page. This site has links to all major airports from which you can get the latest information. Just click on http://www.faa.gov/
Do not rely of rumors you hear from friends or relatives. Check for the information first hand.
As a rule, airports do not close. But they do suspend flight operations and they do post delay warnings when traffic is heavy.
You can also check on airport security delays by visiting the TSA Website. http://waittime.tsa.dhs.gov/index.html
